Barrow have recorded 11 clean sheets across their last 15 matches at Holker Street and have not conceded in their last four home games.

Barrow maintained their League Two promotion push with a 1-0 win over Newport County that damages the Exiles' hopes of securing a play-off spot.

Cole Stockton's 20th minute winner - assisted by former Newport favourite Dom Telford - proved decisive.

Seb Palmer-Houlden and Will Evans both came close to finding a County equaliser at a windy Holker Street.

Barrow might also have extended their lead, but Kian Spence and Telford both missed chances to add a second goal.

The win sees Barrow remain sixth in League Two, four points outside the automatic promotion spots and six points above eighth place.

Defeated Newport slip to four points behind the play-off berths in 11th spot.

Newport County manager Graham Coughlin said: "Probably the most disappointing part for me was the lack of hunger, the lack of desire to go and win a game of football.

"When you want to get into the top 10 you've got to show a lot more hunger and show a lot more desire. You've got to win your battles and you've got to win your individual duels and we didn't win enough of them today.

"Too many players had an off day and that's probably the main contributor to losing the game."

    Another excellent win for Barrow. It’s difficult to understand how anyone can criticise or have anything negative to say about Chris Wild. Regardless of whether Barrow miss out on an automatic place and have to settle for the playoffs it’s just been a remarkable season. For a small club, from a small town with exhaustion away trips every fortnight it’s brilliant what Wild has put together.

    8 games to go & 6pts off the automatics with game in hand, and 5pts & decent goal superiority over teams outside play off places.
    LEICESTER fan here but Bluebirds 2nd team as Dad from 1920s/30,s/40,s Barrow before WW2 & moving to Leicester afterwards.

    Come in lads it can be done !, & my lot down here in Leicester too, this is it now !, time to cease the prize lads !.

    Great 3 points and another clean sheet against decent opposition but wee need more goals to ensure victories we can't keep relying on our keeper and defenders plays off a real possibility brilliant boys

      The league table obviously suggests otherwise but on today's evidence Newport weren't decent opposition. Probably on a par with Harrogate as the poorest team I've seen this season. Barrow deserved to win because we dealt with the conditions better than they did and showed far more desire to win the game

    Yet again BBC Wales allowed to report on a English clubs home game when it would normally PA Media covered when every other club except Wrexham were opponents

    No post match interview with the English clubs manager, but Coughlans are included again without fail.

    Barrow licence fee payers should be asking why they are being short changed.

    Newport had chances to have done better, but the same can be said of the home side. Coughlan's men are still only four points off the play-offs and are next at struggling Colchester on Good Friday. Victory for both sides are an absolute must

    Terrible game to watch, Barrow deserved the win though I just hope we can pick ourselves back up next week and collect 6 points from the 2 games and stay in the mix for the playoffs. UTC

      Wasn’t a terrible watch for me. I watched a Barrow team totally dominate the first half with the wind. In the second half, Barrow played it on the ground, a few decent moves and half a dozen chances. Thoroughly deserved win and it was ok to watch us show passion and committment throughout.

    dont think wild has the bottle to see barrow through the playoffs -has a certain way of playing and will not deviate the club have backed him and he will fall short -expect a new coach next season -Chris Millington -you heard it here first -worth a tenner at 50 to 1
